Go Pink (In Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month)
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women globally. In US alone, more than two hundred thousand people are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. Although the number of deaths from breast cancer have decreased over time, awareness of risk factors and early prevention is still important.
October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October has been deemed International Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the world for almost 40 years. Every year, it serves as a time to raise awareness of breast cancer, create discourse about the risk factors, and the value of early identification and timely access to high-quality care.
Reduce Your Risk of Breast Cancer:
Over the course of a lifetime, a variety of variables can affect your chance of developing breast cancer. Even while some things, including becoming older or having a family history, are beyond your control, you can help reduce your risk of breast cancer by taking the following measures:
- Maintain a healthy weight and engage in frequent exercise.
- Make the decision to abstain from alcohol or to use it sparingly.
- Inquire with your doctor about the dangers of taking birth control tablets or hormone replacement therapy.
- If you can, breastfeed your kids.
